Welcome

We welcome you to the Sun City West Republican Club website. If you are a member, this is the place to get up-to-date information on upcoming meetings and events. If you are a visitor have a look around and find out what we do, and how we do it. From September to June we meet on the first Saturday of the month and enjoy some coffee, donuts, a speaker and some camaraderie with fellow Republicans.

If your heart is warmed by the quote to the right on this page, you belong with us at our meeting. Join up, participate, and join in making America great again.

Our meetings  are the first Saturday of the month. Coffee, donuts and social time begins at 8:00 a.m. with the call to order at 8:30.  We meet in the Quail Room of the SCW Foundation Building and ask a $2 donation to defray the cost of the room rental. Meetings are carefully planned to finish by 10:00 a.m. 

Upcoming Candidate Forums

In anticipation of the 2018 primary election we are trying a new plan this year; rather than have all the candidates at one large meeting, the plan is to invite candidates for one office to each meeting starting in January.  All Republican candidates for a particular office will be invited to attend the meeting for their office. The subject matter will be restricted to matters pertaining to that particular office and audience questions may be submitted in advance with or without the use of the audience member’s name. June Meeting 

Our sixth session in the series of forums with the candidates will be Saturday, June 2nd where we will host candidates for Legislative District 22, both State Senate and State House of Representatives.  See below for candidate names and biographical information. A few candidates sent along a picture; click on the candidate name to see their picture. 

Questions for the candidates may be submitted either in writing on 3 x 5 card at your table, or in advance by email.  Click here for email instructions. 

Candidates 
The candidates who will participate are John Heep who has an extensive background in business and has served on the Maricopa College Board; Clair Van Steenwyk, a successful businessman who has been active in politics and has hosted a radio program (Crossroads with Van). Also, Kellie Pawluk, a pediatric nurse who advocates for safe quality care. Matthew Bullock, is a business owner who has created hundreds of jobs in the tech industry. Ben Toma is currently serving as a State Representative where he has won awards from pro-taxpayer and pro-family groups.

State Representative, David Livingston serves as Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee. He’s running for State Senate to replace Judy Burgess.   Frank Carroll is running for State Representative; he’s a long-time party activist and committed Christian constitutional conservative. 

Upcoming Event 

In addition to our June meeting our members will be interested in the Arrowhead Republican Women Club meeting on Saturday June 2, from 2 to 5pm.  They are hosting a Republican Candidate forum inviting all Republican candidates for county, state or national offices.  This is a no-charge event and will include light refreshments and a cash bar at the Briarwood Country Club. 

2018 Dues 

Please bring your $10 annual dues for 2018 to the March meeting if you haven’t paid for 2018 as yet.
